Patrick Mahomes went 5-for-7 for 33 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions Thursday night, marking the last time Kansas Citians will see Mahomes play at Arrowhead Stadium for 44 days.
Allow me to explain.
Based upon how Andy Reid has historically treated the starting quarterback position, Mahomes will throw the next two games of the preseason—away in Atlanta on August 17 and away in Chicago on August 25. As he has done in previous years, Reid will most likely sit Mahomes, the starter, for the preseason finale against the Packers at Arrowhead Stadium on August 30.
The Chiefs’ first two games of the regular season are away—September 9 in Los Angeles and September 16 in Pittsburgh.
The Chiefs’ first regular-season game at home takes place Week 3 on September 23, 44 days from Friday, when the Chiefs host the San Francisco 49ers at Arrowhead Stadium.
That is the next time Mahomes will presumably be throwing in Kansas City.
