“I didn’t want to be with an older quarterback. I came here to be with a young guy that I can grow with. I’m young, he’s really young. It’s a young team in general.”
The future of the Kansas City Chiefs became the present when they dealt Alex Smith to the Washington Redskins. Patrick Mahomes takes over an offense that last season produced a top five Fantasy option at quarterback, running back, wide receiver and tight end. It's also an offense that got more talented in the offseason, with the addition of Sammy Watkins.
Tamba Hali apparently saw enough last season from Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes to believe that he'll be a star in the NFL.

While going through research this offseason, there were a few stats that stood out to me. One being that 628 of his 1,183 yards and six of his seven touchdowns came on deep targets. Alex Smith threw the best deep ball in the league last year, and it wasn’t all that close. He also finished with just 105 targets, while no other wide receiver who finished top-16 had fewer than him. The addition of Sammy Watkins will not help him get more targets, and they may actually go down. On top of all that, he’s going to have the worst schedule among wide receivers in 2018, meaning his efficiency will decline even if his targets don’t.
Back at the start of free agency in 2018, the Cowboys lost linebacker Anthony Hitchens when the Kansas City Chiefs decided to wildly overpay him. At that point, every Cowboys fan was in their right mind to be very concerned about the linebacker unit in Dallas.

The Raiders are not expecting Mack to report for mandatory minicamp this week, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported, via sources informed of the situation. Skipping mandatory practices will make Mack an official holdout as he seeks a lucrative contract extension.
"We can do some different things because Melvin has become such a good receiver out of the backfield," Whisenhunt said, via ESPN's Eric D. Williams. "And that's not something that you saw from him in college. Not that he couldn't do it; they just didn't throw him the ball. He was too busy running for 8 million yards or whatever it was he was running for.
The 34-year-old spent the last five seasons with the Cardinals. He registered 30 total tackles and 1.5 sacks in 2017.
The fifth-year guard signed a six-year contract extension with the Cowboys on Monday to become the highest-paid player at his position, NFL Insider Ian Rapoport reported, citing unidentified sources.
After attending mandatory minicamp last week, Patriots quarterback Tom Brady and tight end Rob Gronkowski are not expected to attend the team's final week of OTAs.
Normally, I never laugh at any person or professional athlete getting injured in any way. But there are two exceptions: mild groin injuries, and the thing that happened to NFL tight end Clay Harbor on Monday night on The Bachelorette. In Harbor’s own words: “I got injured playing football on The Bachelorette. That’s pretty funny.”

Comparing Mahomes to Alex Smith
I had no idea how to compare the two quarterbacks at first, but eventually an idea drifted into my mind - if I could somehow find similar plays between Mahomes and Smith then I could line them up side by side and compare the two quarterbacks.
