This is the John Dorsey connection at play. Nicolas was a 2016 sixth round pick by the Chiefs. He was a raw pass rusher who the Chiefs thought had some potential until a knee injury ended his rookie season. He didn’t play last season.
Telfer is a 6’4, 250-pound tight end out who went to USC. He has five career catches so clearly not a proven talent at this point. Nicolas was no lock to make the team so I wouldn’t say Telfer is either at this point. He joins a roster with five other tight ends: Travis Kelce, Demetrius Harris, Orson Charles, Jace Amaro and Tim Wright.
New #Chiefs TE Randall Telfer had a 45.1 @PFF Overall Grade last season, ranking 58th among TE's.

300 Offensive snaps, but seen more as a blocker, with only 11 career targets.
