Changing of the guard: A eulogy for an elite era of fantasy tight ends | Pro Football Focus
Gates, Gonzalez, and Witten were at or near the top every year before they were joined by Rob Gronkowski and Jimmy Graham in 2010/2011. Greg Olsen joined the fray in the early 2010s as Gonzalez’s career wound down, and Travis Kelce recently ranked up to the elite level. Some others are knocking on the door, such as Zach Ertz and Evan Engram.
Considering those numbers a top priority in free agency and the draft should have been to upgrade the secondary. They replaced the cornerback trio of Sean Smith, David Amerson, and TJ Carrie with a stockpile of questionable cornerback talent and signed veteran journeyman safety Marcus Gilchrist. But that hardly seems like enough fix the monstrosity that was last year’s pass defense.

4) Los Angeles Rams
If there were an award for "happiest defensive coordinator," Wade Phillips would surely win it in a runaway after the Rams added studs Marcus Peters, Aqib Talib and Ndamukong Suh to a defense that already included Aaron Donald. If you look every place Phillips has won before -- including in Denver, when the Broncos won Super Bowl 50 -- his success came because of good corners and potent inside tackles, and that's exactly what the Rams have now. And it's not like Los Angeles forgot about offense; the Rams also traded for receiver Brandin Cooks, who is a superior route-runner to ex-Ram Sammy Watkins. The only thing the Rams need to do now to make this offseason complete is sign Donald to a long-term extension.
