Chiefs' Anthony Sherman serves as NASCAR pace car driver | The Kansas City Star

So after Tyreek Hill caught a 63-yard touchdown in the first half against the Los Angeles Chargers, there were Sherman and his teammates, treating Hill as though he were a race car in the midst of a pit stop.

“Big NASCAR fan,” Sherman said, adding, “That one actually came to us a couple of hours before the game. We got to do it in the locker room and try to figure it out, and (it) ended up working out pretty good.”

The competition: The Chargers, who finished 9-7 last season, are much improved, especially on defense -- and with veteran kicker Caleb Sturgis on board, I don't think they'll have the kicking problems that effectively kept them from making the playoffs last year. Jon Gruden's Raiders will be better. Denver has a QB in place (Case Keenum) who will help win some games, while the Broncos' defense will get a huge boost from the addition of rookie Bradley Chubb. This collection of teams will make it very difficult for Kansas City to defend its division title.

Kansas City Chiefs: Ten players who must have big seasons in 2018 | KC Kingdom

Fisher had a rough rookie season and bounced back decently in years two and three. Recently, however, he’s been a liability in some games and that’s never a good thing. The argument could certainly be made that had Fisher not been the first overall pick in 2013, he’d be with another team by now.

It’s important for Fisher to have a good year in 2018 because the “He was the first pick” excuse is starting to lose its luster.
