The oddsmakers at Bovada expect the Kansas City Chiefs to be right around .500 this season with new starting quarterback Patrick Mahomes. The Chiefs over / under on their win total for this season, according to Bovada, is eight games. That feels ... about right?
Yeah, I might go a game higher too but with the unknown factor of Mahomes I can buy into this over / under. Of course, I’m taking the over with the Chiefs. The roster is solid enough and I saw enough out of Mahomes in his brief playing time last season to decide he’s not a total bust. Plus, Andy Reid’s teams win (... in the regular season!).
The Chiefs are not tops in the AFC West, according to these over / under win totals. The Chargers lead the AFC West at nine while the Chiefs and Raiders are both at eight and the Broncos at seven. What I do like about this division is it’s very tight. Other than Denver, I don’t think anyone is surprised if any of the other three teams won the AFC West. It’s going to be close once again this year (it’s always possible the Raiders blow it, like last year).

As for the rest of the league, guess who has the highest number? Yup, the Patriots at 11. They are followed with 10 by the Packers, Vikings, Eagles and Steelers. That means it is YET ANOTHER SEASON with the Patriots and Steelers as the favorites in the AFC West. The more things change ....
