Second-round mock draft: Chiefs fans will like this pick

New, comments

The real draft starts for the Chiefs on Friday night when they make their pick of the 2018 draft. Read on for a peek at a second round mock draft.

I had cornerback listed on my list of the Kansas City Chiefs top needs entering the 2018 NFL Draft and the SB Nation’s second round NFL mock draft has the KC Chiefs taking just that, a cornerback, Isaiah Oliver out of Colorado.

Oliver is listed at 6’ and 201 pounds. His father played in the NFL for five years and was a world class athlete. The need is obvious after the Chiefs traded Marcus Peters away. While they did acquire Kendall Fuller, the Chiefs could still use more corner depth (as most teams could).

I wouldn’t mind taking a cornerback here, pass rusher or defensive lineman. Heck, I could take about any defensive player with this pick.

There is a chance the Chiefs trade back up in the second round. They currently hold the 54th pick and we know GM Brett Veach likes to trade. The Chiefs have two other third round picks to play with if they do want to move up. The Chiefs also believe they have a deep roster so perhaps trading one or both of those thirds away to move up makes sense.

The very next pick in this SB Nation mock draft has the Panthers taking CB Jessie Bates III, which is the current Arrowhead Pride prediction for the pick.
