It is NFL schedule release day. We are set to find out the Kansas City Chiefs’ 2018 schedule at approximately 7 p.m. Arrowhead Time.
So far, here’s what we know:
- The Chiefs will play the Chargers at some point on Thursday Night Football.
- The Chiefs will host the Ravens on Sunday, December 9, in Arrowhead Stadium at Noon.
- The Chiefs will likely play the San Francisco 49ers at home Week 3.
- Patriots reporter Jeff Howe has the Chiefs visiting the Patriots for Sunday Night Football on October 14.
- The Chiefs’ most important preseason game, Week 3, is against former offensive coordinator Matt Nagy and the Chicago Bears. The Chiefs also play the Houston Texans, Atlanta Falcons and Green Bay Packers in the preseason.
- There is one date on the Chiefs’ 2018 schedule that has been confirmed by the team—Monday night, November 19, in Mexico City against the Los Angeles Rams. For what it’s worth, the Chiefs are an away team.
- The Chiefs will most likely not open the season at home. That’s because Taylor Swift will play Arrowhead Stadium on Saturday night, September 8, or in football terms, Week 1.
- Week 2 seems out of the question for a home opener because the Kansas City Royals, who share the complex with the Chiefs, are home that weekend. They host the Twins from Thursday night, September 13 to Sunday, September 16. This does leave open Monday night, September 17, but don’t forget, the Chiefs already have a Monday night game on the schedule.
- This would lead me to believe the Chiefs open Arrowhead Stadium Week 3, September 23.
- The NFL announced that teams will once again play a division game Week 17, with six division games also being played on Week 16. That means the Broncos, Chargers or Raiders for the Chiefs on Week 17.
We’ll update this page as rumors and leaks break.
