With the 8th pick in the AP mock draft, Chicago Bears GM ericberryforpresident selects ...
Alabama DB Minkah Fitzpatrick
To some this may be a surprising pick, considering that Denzel Ward is still on the board. The Bears are looking for defense with this pick, as their offense is half set with additions of Allen Robinson and Taylor Gabriel. I say half set because of the fact that Trubisky is not yet proven and some work on the O line needs to be done. Quenton Nelson is already taken, no offensive lineman is valuable enough to be taken with the 8th pick compared to the defensive talent that they can add and need with the pick. The Bears take Minkah Fitzpatrick to pair with Adrian Amos. If Fitzpatrick lives up to expectations, they will be one of the best if not the best in the league right away. Both Amos and Fitzpatrick can both play SS and FS so mixing up different defensive sets with the both of them will be a great way to scare and confuse opposing offenses. If the Bears did not keep Kyle Fuller, they would have taken Denzel Ward. The true leadership and playmaking ability of Fitzpatrick is to good to pass up for a rebuilding young defense.

With the 9th pick in the 2018 AP mock draft, San Francisco 49ers GM ericberryforpresident selects ...
Ohio State CB Denzel Ward
The 49ers and G.M. John Lynch move to shore up the defense with the selection of arguably the best Corner in the draft. Lynch, a hard-nosed player himself, must have liked the skill set included with the native Macedonia, Ohio native. With his 4.32 second 40 yard and a 39” vertical, his athleticism stands out. Pairing him with Richard Sherman might be a backfield tandem that creates nightmares for opposing quarterbacks and coordinators. Sherman can teach the youngster a few tricks and together they can set the tone for a growing, aggressive defense on a team that is going up in the standings.
