2018 AP mock draft: Josh Allen becomes second QB off the board

New, comments

With the third pick in the 2018 AP Mock Draft, New York Jets GM Dalukes selects …

Wyoming QB Josh Allen

Listen, I’m not saying it’s the best pick, just the one that makes the most sense. With the Jets solidifying contracts with both Josh McCown and Teddy Bridgewater, it seems they’re not in for a QB who specifically needs to start right away. They want a talent that can wait for a year or two (or three) until he steps up to the plate. Will it end up like Favre/Rodgers or Smith/Mahomes? I doubt it, but I digress.

In Allen, they get a QB with a rocket arm who can learn behind a veteran in McCown while being pushed by another vet in Bridgewater. The Jets arguably haven’t had a franchise guy since Broadway Joe, so it’s safe to say they want whoever they pick here to be The Guy. As much as Broadway Baker has a ring to it, Broadway Josh will have to suffice.
