Kendall Fuller’s brother could be hitting free agency. Fuller was traded to the Chiefs as part of the Alex Smith trade and has several brothers in the NFL, including Kyle Fuller who is expected to hit free agency on March 14. Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports the Bears are not expected to use the franchise tag on Fuller. That means he is likely to be available next week.
Pete mentioned this idea of uniting the Fuller brothers recently and I like it. Fuller didn’t play at all in 2016 and then had a solid season in 2017. He is a 26-year old free agent corner so he will be paid well wherever he goes. The Chiefs have the cap space after all these moves (Alex Smith trade, Darrelle Revis release, Derrick Johnson release) to actually make a splash with a big player or two.
The Chiefs do seem to be missing a starting cornerback next to Kendall Fuller (gee, where did that guy go). Revis was cut which leaves a bunch of young players who haven’t consistently proven themselves. I could see corner being an area the Chiefs invest in this offseason whether that’s with another Fuller brother in free agency or the draft.
