Chiefs’ Andy Reid, Brett Veach issue statements on Marcus Peters, Alex Smith trades

The Kansas City Chiefs finally made official their two trades over the last month — Alex Smith to the Washington Redskins and Marcus Peters to the Los Angeles Rams.

We’ve already discussed plenty about those trades so I don’t rehash it all here but the Chiefs did put out their statements on the trades.

Brett Veach on the Alex Smith trade: “We were able to reach an agreement with the Redskins that we felt was in the best interest of our team moving forward. I’d like to thank Alex for his contributions the last five seasons. He played an integral role in our team’s success. I wish him the best of luck as he continues his career.”

Andy Reid on the Alex Smith trade: “I have a tremendous amount of respect for Alex and what he was able to accomplish with us these past five seasons. He put every ounce of energy into making our football team better and I appreciate his leadership and how he came to work with the right attitude every day. I wish Alex and his family well as he moves forward.”

Brett Veach on the Marcus Peters trade: “After a thorough evaluation of our roster we decided it was in the best interest for us and for Marcus to move in different directions. We appreciate Marcus’ contributions to our football team and wish him the best of luck as he continues his playing career.”

Andy Reid on the Marcus Peters trade: “I’d like to thank Marcus for his contributions to our team the past three seasons,” Chiefs Head Coach Andy Reid said. “We felt this was the right move for our team and also for Marcus at this time.”
