The Kansas City Chiefs have signed a receiver in Sammy Watkins and a linebacker in Anthony Hitchens. Err, they will sign those players on Wednesday when free agency officially opens.
So, what’s next for the Chiefs in free agency?
I say the defensive line. I wrote about the Chiefs top needs and put defensive line near the top. That is one area where there is some free agent talent out there available—if the Chiefs have enough cap space left.
They were rumored to be in on the defensive line market, although this came before the big contracts to Sammy Watkins and Anthony Hitchens were reported.
Teams I continue to hear looking to add DT (Poe, Star, S. Richardson) with most fervor are KC, TB, IND, DEN, WSH

The Chiefs were also rumored to be interested in DT Star Lotulelei of the Panthers but he is headed to the Bills.

There are more defensive line options available. The Chiefs did visit with free agent Muhammad Wilkerson, but he is headed to the Packers. Sheldon Richardson is one to watch after the Jets traded him to Seattle last year.
Dontari Poe is someone Chiefs fans are familiar with. Or the Chiefs could bring Bennie Logan back, as he’s scheduled to be a free agent.
If not free agency, the Chiefs would look to the draft for defensive line help but without a first-round pick they can’t expect much immediate help.
Which position would you address next? Corner? Safety?
