If the Kansas City Chiefs move on from Tamba Hali soon they’ll be nearing $30 million in available cap space. They could use some of that on any number of free agents set to be available when free agency begins on March 14, including DL Muhammad Wilkerson, who is expected to become a free agent soon. The Jets announced they have released him and Royals hater Jason La Canfora wonders about Bob Sutton’s Jets connections.
Would expect 3-4 teams (NE, BAL, PIT - where his old DL coach is) to have some interest. KC has former DC on staff. Mo still just 28yr old

He will be among the top defensive linemen available. A nice bonus is since he was cut he won’t count against the compensatory pick formula. The Chiefs could use some help along the defensive line. They are set to lose last year’s starting NT Bennie Logan to free agency and some have speculated that DE Allen Bailey could be a cap casualty.
Of course, if you’re already cutting players because of cap reasons are you going to go out and sign one of the most expensive defensive linemen? Maybe not. I would be down to bring Wilkerson in on a one-year prove-it deal to go back out to free agency next year but I’m not sure the Chiefs commit a lot of money here given their cap situation.
