Broncos coach says Chiefs are tough to beat, multiple AFC West teams will be contenders

Broncos head coach Vance Joseph is back for a second year in the AFC West and he’s already figured out it’s a pretty good division. While the division didn’t quite live up to the expectations last season, you can bet the Broncos will be right back in it if they can get a quarterback.

“It’s a strong division,” Joseph said from the NFL Combine via SB Nation’s Rebecca Toback. “You look at the Chiefs that’s won every game in the division for two years. That football team is hard to beat especially at home.

“Oakland has a new staff with coach Gruden who is an experienced coach with a big time quarterback. The Chargers started 1-4 or 1-5 and won eight straight with Philip Rivers and Anthony Lynn out there so it’s a tough division.

“In my opinion you’ve got in that division two or three teams that are capable of making the playoffs every year so it’s always going to be a challenge to win the division.”

Hard to argue! The Chiefs are going to be a playoff contender ... I think. I was much more confident saying that when Alex Smith was here because I knew what to expect from him for the most part. Patrick Mahomes is the wild card here but many people think a Kansas City rebuilding season could still be a seven or eight win season.
