The Kansas City Chiefs have started clearing out the defense. They cut long-time middle LB Derrick Johnson, traded CB Marcus Peters, plan to cut S Ron Parker and it appears they will let NT Bennie Logan hit free agency.
It seems logical they would load up on defense after seeing the list of players they are moving on from. Another argument for loading up on the defense comes from friend of the site Craig, who pointed out the Bob Sutton factor, which I thought was interesting.
I see lots of Chiefs fans worried that the defense is going to collapse in on itself next season due to lack of talent.

You really think they're gonna keep Bob Sutton on, blame the players/talent/execution, and NOT reload the defense? Nah.
They doubled down on Bob. I've stated it was a bad move, and maybe you agree. That doesn't change the fact that they put all their eggs in his basket and they've GOT to put pieces that fit the mold in place. They wouldn't do it and leave scraps on that side of the ball.

It’s a good point. The Chiefs, by keeping Sutton and moving on from some of these players, do seem to be saying it was a talent, not a coaching, problem last season. That means if they’re going to keep the coach they better upgrade the talent (they really need a young stud cornerback for this but I can’t even anymore).
The offensive side of the ball has young playmakers all over the place from Tyreek Hill to Travis Kelce to, yes, Patrick Mahomes.
Defense is the name of the game this offseason. Prepare your mock drafts.
