Eric Berry is at the Super Bowl this week but unfortunately the Kansas City Chiefs are not. Berry spoke to SB Nation’s Ryan Van Bibber about losing Alex Smith, turning to Patrick Mahomes and whether or not the Chiefs have the best secondary in the NFL.

Losing Alex Smith

“For me it was kinda tough just because, now that I know it’s his last season, I wish I could have played with him. I loved playing on the other side of the ball going at it with him in practice and throughout the game being around him and seeing him make plays and put us in a good position, that’s kinda tough.”

Turning to Patrick Mahomes

“He’s a good quarterback, man. Got a lot of upside. I’m looking forward to playing with him and seeing him grow as a player.”

Do the Chiefs have the best secondary in the NFL?

“We just try to be the best we can be. Regardless of what everyone else’s opinions are, that’s cool if that’s what they think. As far as we always push each other to be the best we can be.”
