Chiefs’ Travis Kelce sees Matt Nagy as Doug Pederson 2.0

When the Eagles hired Doug Pederson from the Chiefs, I thought it was too early for him. He wasn’t ready yet. He was too green.

Obviously I don’t know what I’m talking about because Pederson now has a ring. He wasn’t too young and his aggressiveness was part of the reason why the Eagles won.

The NFL is not actually that innovative so when you saw a young former Andy Reid coordinator win a title you figured someone was coming for Matt Nagy, which the Bears did.

Travis Kelce saw the same thing in Nagy as he did in Pederson.

“I think Matt’s a hell of a coach,” Kelce told the Bears website. “I think he could be Doug Pederson 2.0, to be honest, especially with the quarterback.”

This shows the importance of getting the quarterback right. McVay in Los Angeles handed his defense to Wade Phillips and worked on getting Jared Goff right. Pederson got to draft their quarterback of the future in Carson Wentz. And now Nagy has Mitch Trubisky. It’s going to be interesting to see how much success he can have and how quickly he can.
