No quarterback in Chiefs history has thrown for more passing yards in a single season than Patrick Mahomes

Mahomes became the franchise’s leader on Sunday night

As of this writing, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has thrown for 4,602 yards, more than any other quarterback in franchise history.

Mahomes reached the milestone in the second quarter of the Chiefs’ Sunday Night Football game against the Seattle Seahawks.

Mahomes, who is currently the favorite to win league MVP, was named the Associated Press’ quarterback of the year for 2018 earlier this week. He had 4,543 yards, 45 touchdowns and 11 interceptions entering the game.

If the Chiefs manage to defeat the Seahawks, they will clinch the No. 1 seed in the AFC, meaning head coach Andy Reid would more than likely sit Mahomes next week.

His yardage total on Sunday night would then be his final total for the season.
