News emerged earlier this month that former Kansas City Chiefs and current Washington Redskins quarterback Alex Smith was still in the hospital due to complications from surgery on his leg. Some began questioning whether his career was over.
Smith suffered a broken tibia and fibula back in late November. When reports of complications surfaced, the Redskins and the Smith family asked for privacy.
Finally, almost a month after the injury, Smith is home from the hospital, according to his wife Liz’s Instagram post on Sunday:

Liz Smith writes, “HOME...This last month has been a difficult ride. Our family is beyond happy to have this man with us and home. This experience has given us great perspective and gratitude for all the people and blessings in our lives. We couldn’t have gotten through it without our amazing family, friends and community. A special thank you to the relentless doctors, nurses, techs, hospital administrators, the Snyder family and the Washington Redskins.”
This is great news.
