Patrick Mahomes is king of the deep ball | ESPN

Mahomes has subsequently taken over the sideline-angle throne. He hasn’t thrown another 60-yard air strike for a touchdown, but the second-year passer has completed 48 “deep” passes (through Week 13), the NFL’s descriptor for throws that travel 16 yards or more in the air, tops in the league. Mahomes has 10 touchdowns on those throws, tied for third most in the NFL. Of course, he’s also tied for second among passers with six interceptions on those bombs. Good or bad, when Mahomes goes deep, something exciting usually happens.

NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Wednesday that Wentz is not expected to play Sunday versus the Los Angeles Rams, per a source informed of the decision. Rapoport adds that given the timing of the back issue, Wentz might not play again in 2018. The Eagles are still gathering information on his health.

With a win, the Chiefs clinch the AFC West. Then, with a little help from the Pittsburgh Steelers when they play the New England Patriots on Sunday, the Chiefs will have the number one seed in hand. That would give them two weeks to play what will amount to preseason games to close out the season — and then a week off before another team comes to Arrowhead.

With a win, the Chargers also have a shot at the division title and the number one seed.

Three key players won’t play for the Chiefs—left guard Cam Erving and running back Spencer Ware are doubtful and wide receiver Sammy Watkins is out. The expectation is that Jeff Allen will fill in at left guard and Damien Williams will get the start at running back. Darrel Williams will be behind Damien and Charcandrick West should be active.
