Jacksonville Jaguars working out two ex-Chiefs running backs

The Jaguars need running back depth, so they are bringing in some familiar faces to Kansas City.

NFL: Denver Broncos at Kansas City Chiefs Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

After the Kansas City Chiefs blew out the Jacksonville Jaguars, 30-14, on Sunday at Arrowhead Stadium, they decided to get the Chiefs back by flirting with two of their former beloved running backs.

Just kidding, probably.

But two familiar names to the Chiefs are actually headed to Jacksonville for workouts as the team deals with starter Leonard Fournette’s hamstring issue, according to a whole slew of NFL Network reporters.

RB Jamaal Charles

RB Charcandrick West

Charles, of course, is still the Chiefs’ all-time leading rusher, but he last played for the Denver Broncos (2017). Charles had 69 rushes for 296 yards and a touchdown, while also catching 23 passes for 129 yards in 14 games in Denver. Charles still owns the best yards-per-carry for running backs in NFL history at 5.4

In 13 games for the Chiefs in 2017, West had 18 carries for 72 yards and two rushing touchdowns, as well as 27 catches for 150 yards and two receiving touchdowns. West led the Chiefs in rushing yards with 634 in 2015.

It’s kind of strange to think about how two of the Chiefs mainstays in recent years at running backs are battling for a job in Jacksonville. At this stage of the game, if I’m the Jaguars, I go with West.

I still believe he has a lot left to offer.
