Welcome to another edition of the Beer of the Week!
As always, the Beer of the Week is originally presented on the Arrowhead Pride Tailgate on 610 Sports Radio as part of my Defense and Beer of the Week segment.
With the Chiefs lining up against the Denver Broncos again this week, I got to lean on one of my very favorite beer cities to make this week’s selection. Straight out of Denver, this week’s Beer of the Week is Great Divide Brewing Co Yeti Imperial Stout!
We're proud to be featured in @PorchDrinkingCO's OG of Craft Beer series. Read up on how the magical Yeti Imperial Stout came to be and you may ask yourself, Do I Believe? #YetiMafia #IBelieve #Yeti #YetiImperialStout https://t.co/iDKJSbPck9— Great Divide Brewing (@greatdividebrew) August 20, 2018
A 9.5% ABV Imperial Stout, the OG version of this beer features big, roasty malts with a caramel and toffee finish. It’s heavily hopped, helping balance out the malts in the beer, but those worried about an aggressive hop nose need not worry — this beer is going to overwhelm with malty flavors and aromas. Yeti wears many hats, boasting a Velvet Nitro version year round and seasonal Chocolate Oak, Vanilla Oak, Chai and Barrel Aged versions throughout the year.
Great Divide Brewing Co started in 1994, well before the Denver beer scene was a twinkle in the city’s eye. Founder Brian Dunn brewed, bottled, packaged and sold his beers as the only full-time employee until word of mouth finally took off and the brewery grew. Having two locations in Denver — an old dairy processing plant they bought in 2001 and a Barrel Bar that opened in 2015 — has allowed Great Divide to make an assortment of styles to bottle and can. From the staple Titan IPA, to their Collette Farmhouse, all the way to their delicious Woodwerks Barrel Series, Great Divide consistently puts out a quality product, no matter what style they’re playing with.
So if you can, make sure to swing by your local liquor store and scoop up some Great Divide Brewing Co Yeti Imperial Stout this weekend!
Check back here this time next week for the new Beer of the Week!
