The Kansas City Chiefs would be drafting No. 22 overall ... if they had a first round pick. Which they don’t. The Chiefs traded theirs to Buffalo last April in the Patrick Mahomes trade. So the Bills now pick back to back in the 2018 draft — No. 21 and 22 in the first round.
Now that the season is over and I’m starting to look forward to the draft I am getting pretty disappointed we can’t partake in all these mock drafts because the Chiefs don’t have a first round pick.
What if the Chiefs could find a first rounder before the draft?
Louis Riddick says on ESPN that he bets the Bills will be interested in Alex Smith this offseason.

Louis Riddick has ties to Andy Reid and Bills coach Sean McDermott once coached under Andy Reid along with Bills assistant coach David Culley. There is plenty of familiarity between the two coaching staffs which is why I don’t want to dismiss this right off the bat.
Some will say Tyrod Taylor and Alex Smith are too similar for the Bills to consider this trade and some might even say the drafting of Nate Peterman last year would eliminate this option. Those are both possibilities (Alex is better if we’re being honest, though). I’m not saying it’s a perfect idea but there’s enough there to make me wonder.
The other thing is I doubt the Chiefs could get a first round pick if they decide to trade Alex Smith. It’s too early to be able to tell for sure but a first seems really high. A second or multiple mid-round picks might make more sense.
