The Kansas City Chiefs are losing their offensive coordiantor. Multiple reports state that the Chicago Bears are in the process of hiring Matt Nagy as their next head coach. For the third time in as many seasons, the Chiefs are making a change at offensive coordinator.
So, who will the Chiefs hire?
The first name that pops up to me is Brad Childress. He’s currently on the Chiefs staff as the assistant head coach but was the co-offensive coordinator with Nagy last year. If Andy Reid wants familiarity and continuity, Childress is the guy.
UPDATE: Brad Childress is reportedly planning to retire
The Chiefs also have Eric Bieniemy on their staff as the running backs coach. I don’t know as much about him but he comes across as a great coach. If Reid wants to keep the young pipeline of coaching talent flowing, Bieniemy could be a good pick.
I don’t know of anyone else who could be a candidate. Or if these two will even be candidates. Andy Reid probably has an idea as Nagy’s head coaching job didn’t come out of nowhere.
