Chiefs could see plenty of changes on defense

Andy Reid wasn’t ready to talk about the future of his coaching staff after Saturday’s game and that’s understandable. Even if it’s obvious, you don’t have to fire everyone on the first day of the offseason.

I do believe changes are coming to the Chiefs defense in some fashion and apparently that’s the rumor around the league.

I think there will be a revamping of the Kansas City defense,” former NFL exec Michael Lombardi said on the GM Street podcast. “Rumor has it Bob Sutton is not going to come back from the coaching circles. I think there are going to be a lot of changes on that Kansas City staff defensively.”

Defensive coordinator Bob Sutton is the one everyone is going to point to. We’ll see what happens there over the coming weeks.

After that, the other assistants get a little interesting. Gary Gibbs coaches the linebackers and has survived multiple coaching changes. Britt Reid is Andy’s son and coaches the defensive line. Emmitt Thomas coaches the defensive backs and is a Chiefs Hall of Famer.
