Should the Chiefs fire Andy Reid?

The Chiefs should not fire Andy Reid.

There, I said it. Controversial opinion alert!

Not that controversial, actually. I think most Chiefs fans — we’ll find out shortly in the poll below — want to keep Andy Reid. Today, on January 8, that’s the right move.

They gave him an extension six months ago so I can’t see them actually firing him. For the first time, though, the chatter to fire Reid feels a little real. A little.

Reid remains one of the best head coaches in the NFL. I would rather lose in the playoffs every year than go back to 2-14. Maybe I will change my tune on that with another playoff loss next year (very possible) but that’s where I stand right now. I don’t fault anyone who is already there. We just see it differently right now.

The other big reason I want the Chiefs to keep Reid is because of Patrick Mahomes. Playoff losses or not, I want Reid around Mahomes. I want Mahomes to learn from Reid and spend time in his system.

We’re less than 48 hours from the Chiefs heartbreaking playoff loss. I reserve the right to change my mind but this is where I stand right now. What about you?
