Pete passed along some fun quotes from Von Miller earlier this week on Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes after Sunday’s game. Get ready for some quotes from another Broncos defensive star that are also incredible.
Broncos CB Aqib Talib joined the Vic Lombardi show in Denver and had this to say when asked about his take on Mahomes.
“I saw enough of Patrick Mahomes to think Alex Smith is going to be a free agent next year,” Talib said. “That guy can play some ball, Vic. That guy can play some ball. He’s smart. I saw him checking protections, I saw him reading the defense. We know how strong his arm is. The guy is a competitor. I think Alex Smith, he definitely might be on the market this year.”
Talib can say Alex will be a free agent but the Chiefs are in control here. Both players are under contract next year (at different prices, of course). They don’t need to decide today. Chiefs fans hope Alex has a playoff run to make.
Speaking of Alex, I didn’t get the sense that Talib loves him. Talib was asked what he would think of Alex playing in Denver next year and he said he wasn’t sure about that and that the Chiefs offense “can run itself” as long as you get someone in there to “manage” it.
Oh.
Before we go, one more on Mahomes:
“The guy got an AK-47 for an arm,” Talib said about Mahomes. “He can throw it wherever he wants. It doesn’t matter if he’s running left or right. He’s got a gun for an arm and it shows on the field.”
