The Kansas City Chiefs are preparing for the worst with S Eric Berry, who was carted off with an Achilles injury. If it is indeed ruptured then he would be done for the year and that’s what the Chiefs believe it is, according to Andy Reid.
Reid says it looks like Eric Berry has a potential Achilles tear

We can emphasize “potential tear” here but unfortunately in this case I would say the doctors are very good at spotting these things. Still, I’m holding out for that small change they’re wrong ...
This makes me sick. Berry is the heart and soul of this team and this would be a major loss. Outside of Alex Smith and Travis Kelce, this might be the Chiefs most important player. I’m sick over this.
“It’s tough,” Houston said when asked about Berry on NBC after the game . “I pray to God he’s going to be alright ... It’s tough to lose a guy like that. You can’t replace a guy like that. We gotta keep building. We’re one man down, the next man up. He’s still going to still be with us regardless of whether he’s with us on the field or off the field. He’s always with us. We’re one team, we’re one heartbeat. We’d prefer to have him on the field but we’ll see what the outcome will be.”
All Chiefs players are hoping for the best but as Reid indicated it seems the Chiefs already have an idea. They’ll have the entire season to figure out how to replace him if he’s done. I do like the Chiefs depth at safety with Ron Parker, Daniel Sorensen and Eric Murray but you don’t really replace a guy like Berry.
