Bill Belichick beat Andy Reid in their first four matchups between the New England Patriots and Philadelphia Eagles more than a decade ago.
Reid’s first win over Belichick came in the Chiefs 2014 Monday night win over the Patriots, 41-14. Belichick got him back with the Chiefs 2016 playoff loss in New England.
That brings Reid’s record against Belichick to 1-5.
Reid’s record as a Chief against New England is 1-1 so the Chiefs can take the lead with a win in the season opener on Thursday night.
The Chiefs lead the all-time series against the Patriots 17-13-3.
It’s easy to forget that the Patriots were one of the worst teams in the league before Bill Parcells and Pete Carroll came along. The early 1990s Patriots had a streak of seasons with 5, 1, 6, 2 and 5 wins. Not good! Somehow, Belichick is their third consecutive future Hall of Fame coach.
