Kansas City Chiefs kicker Cairo Santos missed the first three preseason games with a groin injury, but he returned last week in the team’s matchup with the Seattle Seahawks.
After missing his first extra point attempt, Santos recovered to make his next three, along with a successful 48-yard field goal. Santos was held back from kickoff duty in the contest.
In his media availability on Monday, special teams coordinator Dave Toub said Santos should be perfectly fine headed into Thursday night’s opener against the New England Patriots.
Dave Toub said Cairo Santos handled kickoffs yesterday at practice, feels fine. Good news.

Santos is a player that has improved every season since winning the Chiefs’ kicker job as an undrafted free agent back in 2014, so him starting the year on the right foot (this is too easy) will hopefully continue the trend in that direction.
