My first reaction to the Kansas City Chiefs putting K Cairo Santos on injured reserve was that it sucks his season is over. But then I remembered the IR-return rule! Teams can bring back up to two players who were put on IR.
So is that a possibility for Santos? Apparently, it is, says Chiefs coach Andy Reid.

The rule is basically that you can practice after six weeks and play after eight weeks once you’re added to the active roster. That could be good news for the Chiefs because Santos is actually the most accurate kicker in franchise history. The guy they signed to replace him, Harrison Butker, has a great Twitter name (@ButtKicker87) but it remains to be seen what he can do in the NFL, especially in crunch time in a big time game.
