Jones racked up a big time stat line so this should be no surprise: four tackles, three sacks, two forced fumbles, one interception and one pass defensed. My gosh. He was a force against the run as well as MNChiefsfan pointed out here. That’s a big development because the Chiefs were not very strong against the run last year.
Jones is tied with Justin Houston for the team lead with three sacks. It was obvious last year that Jones was going to become a star and that he had some pass rush ability. Now he’s putting the numbers behind it. I don’t expect him to have 15 sacks this year but even three already is a sign of what’s to come. One of the toughest things for an opposing quarterback to handle is pressure up the middle because they can’t step up in the pocket. Jones up the middle and Houston off the edge could mean good things for the Chiefs.
