After CJ Spiller’s release, Chiefs must have a plan at running back

The Kansas City Chiefs must have something up their sleeves. That’s all I can think of after they released RB CJ Spiller. After Spencer Ware’s injury, the Chiefs have two backs on the roster - rookie Kareem Hunt and Charcandrick West. Spiller and Devine Redding have now been cut.

I can’t see any way the Chiefs go into the season with just two backs. I also can’t see any way the Chiefs make this move without a plan in place. This is the third running back it’s still a significant move given what they have at running back now - a rookie and West. (Counterpoint: Last year, the third highest running back total was 40 yards from Jamaal Charles ... Spencer Ware and Charcandrick West did the rest)

Maybe they have a trade partner lined up? Maybe they’re taking the risk they can claim someone off waivers that’s been cut? De’Anthony Thomas? Tyreek Hill?

How about this one: RB Knile Davis was just cut by the Steelers. Could they be bringing Knile back? I’ve heard of crazier things.

I’m not sure what to think but I come back to the thinking that there’s no way they do this without a plan in place. I’d just like to know what that plan is.
