NFL cuts that could interest the Kansas City Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs roster cuts are right here!

But enough about the Chiefs. Let’s talk about other teams cuts ...

I went through this list of NFL roster cuts around the league to see if there were any players that could potentially interest the Kansas City Chiefs.

Here’s my list below. I’m not overly excited about any of these. I’d put RB Matt Jones atop my want list after the release of CJ Spiller. Let me know in the comments which ones stand out to you.

RB Matt Jones: Former Washington GM Scot McCloughan said he is criminally underrated. He averaged 4.6 yards per carry last year.

WR Jeremy Kerley: The 49ers signed him to a three-year deal last year and cut him this weekend. The reason I bring him up is because the Chiefs were reportedly going to visit with him last year.

DE Jaye Howard: Bring him back? The Bears cut him after signing him from the Chiefs last year. He had an injury issue in Chicago.

CB Pierre Desir: Remember this name? He was a tall corner with long arms that we talked about before the 2014 draft. No idea if the Chiefs would be interested but he has the athletic profile they have liked in the past.

OT Eric Winston: He’s older and it’s not going to happen because the Chiefs just traded for Cameron Erving as their future swing tackle. But I watched those Chiefs backup tackles in the preseason so I had to include him.

QB Brock Osweiler: Haha just kidding.

RB Ronnie Hillman: The Chiefs could consider a back with Spencer Ware going down. He has six years NFL experience and was in the AFC West for Andy Reid’s first three years in Kansas City so they’ve seen him.

S T.J. Ward: The Broncos cut him and their locker room apparently doesn’t like it. He’s more of a box safety so he doesn’t really fit in Kansas City, who has three safeties under longterm deals.

QB Brad Kaaya: We looked at him before the draft. He could be an interesting guy for the practice squad.

WR Mortiz Boehringer: Remember the German guy? He was all the rage in the 2016 draft where the Vikings took him in the sixth round. He was a freak athlete. I could see him being a project.

OL David Quessenberry: The Chiefs have one guy on the roster who beat cancer. Why not another?
