Chiefs cut one of their 2017 draft picks: S Leon McQuay

The KC Chiefs cut tracker moves to the draft picks. The Chiefs have cut safety Leon McQuay, a 2017 sixth round pick, according to the KC Star’s Terez Paylor.

The Chiefs were facing a crunch in the secondary with a bunch of good players. At safety, they’ll roll with Eric Berry, Ron Parker, Daniel Sorensen and Eric Murray. Three of those guys are under longterm deals so they obviously like what they have back there.

I’m not too worried about this cut. McQuay was unlikely to make a big impact with that group ahead of him and I doubt they’re done with him. I would bet on him landing on the practice squad, assuming he clears waivers.

The Chiefs also cut Steven Terrell who was the only other safety who I could have reasonably seen making the roster. They’ll go with those four listed above.

We’re tracking the Chiefs cuts here.
