Chiefs cut LB Earl Okine

One member of the Kansas City Chiefs giant edge rush is out. Per a report from Aaron Wilson, the Chiefs are cutting LB Earl Okine.

This isn’t a stunner or anything but he was an interesting prospect because of his size - 6’6 and 290 pounds. The Chiefs have yet to activate Tamba Hali from the PUP list so if he stays on it for the start of the regular season there would be an open roster spot at pass rusher. I wondered if Okine or Marcus Rush could potentially claim that spot.

Okine was hurt briefly in the Chiefs preseason finale so I’m not sure if that played a role here or not. If he has practice squad eligibility that could be a good fit for him.
