The Kansas City Chiefs are cutting TE Gavin Escobar in our first mini surprise of NFL roster cut weekend. The Chiefs haven’t confirmed any cuts yet but Adam Caplan is reporting the news.
#Chiefs informed TE Gavin Escobar that he's going to be released.

Most of us had Escobar on the team as the team’s third tight end behind Travis Kelce and Demetrius Harris. I am guessing this Escobar news is good for Ross Travis, who was also vying for the third tight end position. That or the Chiefs are really surprising us and going with Orson Charles as the third tight end (he’s also played some fullback). Or they’re keeping four tight ends. Anything is possible.
Escobar’s most memorable moment as a Chief was as the recipient of that laser throw from Patrick Mahomes in a preseason game a couple weeks ago.

The third tight end won’t make a major contribution in Kansas City but I’m still a little surprised Escobar was cut. He was on 53-man predictions for us, the KC Star and ESPN.
