Shovel passes are all the rage in Kansas City

One thing that stood out to me re-watching the Kansas City Chiefs win over the New England Patriots was those shovel passes to Travis Kelce. The Chiefs ran that play (or a version of it) a few times on Thursday night.

I’ve seen that play before that game even. I couldn’t place it but did some googling and found this breakdown from the Chiefs playoff loss to the Steelers where they ran something similar.

There was also that fake field goal against the Steelers a few years ago where the fake was a shovel pass to Kelce coming across.

It’s not the same but I also found this play when searching for Chiefs shovel passes. I completely forgot about an Anthony Sherman touchdown catch.

Shovel passes are all the rage these days.
