How the Chiefs and Kareem Hunt broke down the Patriots

Welcome guest author Sam Gold who contributes this piece on Kareem Hunt.

Last Thursday, Kareem Hunt put up a monster performance versus the Patriots. In this game, he gained 246 total yards and scored three touchdowns.

He looked amazing in the Kansas City Chiefs' zone blocking scheme. He consistently made guys miss near the line of scrimmage with his ability to slip arm tackles. He was decisive with the football and showed plus vision to find the correct running lane. In my opinion, he is an ideal zone running back and in just 10 outside zone running plays, he gained 63 yards with 41 of those yards coming after contact.

In addition to his running prowess, he caught all five of his targets. In three of those plays he was used a checkdown receiver, while on his long 78-yard touchdown pass he was used a mismatch versus the Patriots' linebacker.

The Chiefs won this game due to Kareem Hunt's abilities, the offensive line that blasted open holes, and Andy Reid's game planning.
