Kansas City Chiefs sign familiar face at safety in Steven Terrell

The Kansas City Chiefs were working with just three safeties after Eric Berry went down so they signed a familiar face: Steven Terrell. He spent training camp and preseason with the Chiefs so it makes sense the Chiefs would call him in a pinch.

Terrell was with the Seahawks last year and helped replace Earl Thomas when he went down. This year, it’s Eric Berry. Big shoes to fill in each situation.

The Chiefs are strong at safety so while Berry is incredibly important I think they can do a decent job of filling in for him. It sounds like Eric Murray will figure into that rotation more. The Chiefs like the way they use Daniel Sorensen and Ron Parker.

Then we’ll see how Terrell fits in. He was a 2013 undrafted free agent out of Texas A&M. He bounced around the league but had five starts in Seattle last year. This is a pretty good off the street signing considering the circumstances.

The Chiefs also formally placed Berry on injured reserve. So it’s done. Sigh...
