Chiefs head coach Andy Reid spoke to the local Kansas City media Tuesday afternoon leading into the team’s fourth preseason game on Thursday night against the Tennessee Titans.
Patrick Mahomes will start
Reid confirmed Patrick Mahomes would get the start at quarterback and play the entire half Thursday night. He will be followed by third-string Tyler Bray for a quarter and fourth-string Joel Stave for a quarter.
Reid noted that running back Kareem Hunt would not play on Thursday night, meaning it could be a key night in the final evaluations of Charcandrick West and CJ Spiller.
CB Ashton Lampkin presumably done for the year
In other news, cornerback Ashton Lampkin, who was having a good training camp and preseason, looks to be done for the season:
Rookie CB Ashton Lampkin has a torn ACL. He suffered the injury Sunday.

Reid on new Chiefs linebacker Reggie Ragland
Reid spoke about what he likes in Ragland, who the Chiefs acquired in a trade for a conditional fourth-round draft pick in 2019 Monday.
“Reggie was obviously a great player at Alabama,” Reid said. “He got hurt last year when things were on the up-and-up for him. All the people you talked to were really positive reports and Brett (Veach) did all the homework on that, talking to the people. We look forward to bringing him on board and seeing how things work out for him.”
Reid added he doesn’t think Ragland is “all the way back” from the torn ACL he suffered last August, but once he is healthy, he could handle three downs in the Chiefs defense.
The Chiefs host the Titans this Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. CT at Arrowhead Stadium.
