The Kansas City Chiefs have traded for LB Reggie Ragland out of Buffalo. The reports say the Chiefs gave up a 2019 fourth round pick in exchange for Ragland, who was a 2016 second round pick. This comes on the heels of the news that the Chiefs cut LB Josh Mauga.
A knee injury forced Ragland to miss the entire 2016 season in Buffalo. Since then they have had a regime change and he was on the outs in Buffalo or at least relegated to the third string. So this made sense for Buffalo to get something of value out of him if he were indeed on the roster bubble.
A Ragland trade had been speculated before so it’s not completely out of the blue. On paper, acquiring a former second round pick sounds like it’s worth the risk.
Let’s see some of the reactions to the KC Chiefs trade....
1 issue for #Chiefs on defense has been at ILB. Once he proves he's all the way back from ACL injury, Ragland should be a full-time starter.

Can't wait to see what Reggie Ragland does in the Chiefs scheme w/ two outstanding LB coaches in Bob Sutton and Gary Gibbs.

Reggie Ragland is a classic thumper. Not a great athlete, but not awful. Probably a 2-down linebacker, but that's fine in #Chiefs scheme.

Wow ... Bills trade 2016 second-round pick Reggie Ragland to Chiefs for a '19 fourth-round pick. Beane and McDermott aren't messing around.

Ragland was considered a potential first-rounder in 2016, a heart condition hurt his stock a little. Then, suffered a torn ACL last August.

Sending a 2019 4th for the 2016 No. 41 overall pick is smart. #Chiefs give up little to see if Ragland is a better scheme fit there

Teams knew early on in the summer that #Bills LB Reggie Ragland would be available. Buffalo was patient, waiting for the right value.

I'm off today.

Not completely surprised by Ragland being traded. He was 50/50 to make the roster at this point, the way it looked.
Reggie Ragland tore his ACL on August 5 of last year and missed his entire rookie season. One of the top ILB's in last year's draft.

Linebacker a big need for the Chiefs. And Reggie Ragland's coming from Rex Ryan's system, which is VERY similar to Bob Sutton's scheme.

Love this trade for the Chiefs, if Ragland heals that knee, he is the thumper the Chiefs have lacked.

Ragland trade makes sense for both teams. Chiefs won't really know what they got til next season imo
