The NFL is reportedly on the verge of giving Commissioner Roger Goodell a contract extension that would keep him in charge through 2024. His current deal ends in 2019.
One of the owners responsible for extending Goodell’s deal is Chiefs owner Clark Hunt, who is one of six owners on the compensation committee.

The extension will be notable because of recent run-ins Goodell has had with influential owners Robert Kraft (Patriots - Deflategate) and Jerry Jones (Cowboys - Ezekiel Elliott suspension).
It’s also notable because it ensures Goodell will be Commissioner when the owners go back to the negotiating table to extend the current CBA beyond 2021.
