Chiefs’ Clark Hunt is for a new Kansas City airport

Clark Hunt’s vote is in and it’s for a new airport The Kansas City Chiefs owner has been identified as for a new single-terminal airport, according to a report from 41 Action News the other day.

41 Action News exclusively obtained letters from more than a dozen local businesses and agencies asking Kansas City Mayor Sly James and the city council to get a proposal for a new single-terminal at Kansas City International Airport on the November ballot.

Clark Hunt, Chairman and CEO of the Kansas City Chiefs, wrote, "We believe that an improved KCI will make an important statement about the Kansas City brand."

Like we needed something more divisive to talk about, right? OK, here we go ...

The current airport is very convenient for me, a Kansas Citian. I show up shortly before my flight, cruise through security and walk up to my gate. With my excellent timing, I’m often not waiting more than 15-20 minutes before boarding. (Except for yesterday when I flew and, because I was worried about eclipse traffic, got there an hour early and had to wait)

However, I get that there are other people who use this airport. It’s not all about me (imagine that). It’s only going to get more expensive as the years go on and the current structure declines.

So, I’m like Sam Mellinger: I love KCI but Kansas City needs a new airport.
