This is one of those subtle but critical signs of development that coaches work for and revolve their decisions around. Mahomes is capable of the spectacular, so the mundane is particularly important for him.
He may have thrown that interception a month ago, too. College defensive backs aren’t as aggressive, aren’t as quick, and aren’t as smart. They don’t anticipate the same way.
His elusiveness in the pocket is real, and he’s athletic enough to make teams pay with his legs when things break down. But the encouraging thing about his skill set is how Mahomes, without exception, is always looking to throw downfield, even when he’s running around.
“The thing I like about (Mahomes), he just has a good feel,” Green said. “You can tell some guys look natural. Other guys look labored trying to go through a progression, or if things break down in the pocket they get too mechanical.

Last April Silver & Black Pride originally reported that the Raiders were the only team in the NFL to go three years without an arrest. That streak has now ended.
The Kansas City Chiefs travel to Cincinnati to take on the Bengals in their second preseason matchup of the season this Saturday at 6 p.m. (Arrowhead Time).
In other words the perfect time to order a pizza, curl up on your couch in Kansas City and watch some position battles.
Here are the top five I’ll be watching:
On Thursday, the judge sided with the team, and declared a mistrial. The jury was dismissed. The order says the judge will set a hearing to determine the next steps in the case.
Part of me thinks that this is a ton of starch for one dish. The other parts wants me to stop complaining and admit it sounds delicious. The Loaded Potato Skin Burger is fried potato skins covered with cheese, bacon bits and sour cream all serving as the bun for a burger with lettuce and a tomato slice.
