ESPN’s NFL power rankings put Raiders, Chiefs and Broncos in the top 10

Three AFC West teams landed in the top 10 of ESPN’s preseason NFL power rankings and they’re all right in a row. The Oakland Raiders are 7th, the Kansas City Chiefs are 8th and the Denver Broncos are 9th.

Other than the Broncos being in the top 10 - their quarterbacks! - I don’t have too much to argue about this. I’m a Chiefs fan so of course I have to point out how bad it is that the Raiders, who haven’t beaten the Chiefs in a few years, are ranked ahead of the Chiefs. But it’s just one spot and the Raiders have gotten better, so I get it.

Going by this list, the Chiefs would be the fourth best team in the AFC which ... sounds about right? They’re not the best because that’s the Patriots. They’re not the worst because that’s, oh I don’t know, the Jaguars or whoever you want to pick. They’re a solid playoff-contending team.

The Patriots should be the top team listed here. I don’t know about 16-0 but I would bet money they’re the No. 1 seed heading into January.

Here’s the top 10. Check out the rest at ESPN.

  1. Patriots
  2. Falcons
  3. Seahawks
  4. Steelers
  5. Packers
  6. Cowboys
  7. Raiders
  8. Chiefs
  9. Broncos
  10. Cardinals
