Chiefs also cut S Marqueston Huff

The Kansas City Chiefs announced the signing of LB Josh Mauga and S Steven Terrell as well as the release of P Will Monday. What they did not announce until a little later is that they also cut S Marqueston Huff.

Huff was signed in March and was notable because he had some NFL experience. The Chiefs, however, are already stacked at safety. Eric Berry, Ron Parker and Daniel Sorensen are all under long-term contracts and they just drafted S Leon McQuay. They got a chance to see Huff in offseason workouts and decided to make this move before training camp later this month.

Terrell is coming to the Chiefs from the Seahawks. Before that he was a 2014 undrafted free agent out of Texas A&M. He’s credited with 27 tackles and five starts for Seattle last season.

Safety is a tough position to crack, which is good news for the Chiefs. We’ve spent this offseason talking about what’s missing in the Chiefs secondary (who will be the second corner?!) but we should also recognize they’re a pretty damn good group.
