The Kansas City Chiefs are making their inside linebackers great again. Maybe. The Chiefs announced the re-signing of LB Josh Mauga as well as the release of P Will Monday and the signing of S Steven Terrell.
We have placed Will Monday (P) on waivers.

Mauga was injured at the start of last season and spent the entire year on IR. He had been the inside linebacker opposite Derrick Johnson, a position currently held by Ramik Wilson. Mauga has been around for a while as a 2010 Jets draft pick under current Chiefs DC and former Jets defensive assistant Bob Sutton.
Mauga brings reliability. The Chiefs know who he is and he knows who the Chiefs and their scheme are. I don’t have a problem bringing him back now because I assume his contract is such that he will be competing for a spot, not given anything. If Mauga is healthy and ready, he’s a solid addition right now. Good insurance with Derrick Johnson coming back from an Achilles injury.
As for Will Monday, his release means we likely have another year of Duston Colquitt, which is a good thing. Colquitt is terrific but the Chiefs could save more than $4 million against the cap by cutting him so I did wonder about this Will Monday.
