The AFC West looks like the strongest division in football. We made that argument last year and it was proven mostly true. We think the division will be just as tough this year and so does Alex Smith.
The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback went on KNBR from a golf tournament in Tahoe and talked about the AFC West, which is loaded.
“The division is the focus for everybody,” Alex said. “Our division is loaded. You look at the Raiders and Broncos and you know what they’re capable of and how much success they’ve had especially the last couple of years. Even the Chargers, you look at their season last year and they’re a handful of plays away from being a 10-win team. The division is going to be tough.”
It seems like we forget about the Chargers. While I think PFF is a little too high on them, the Chargers are not your typical last place team. The Raiders are the NFL’s darling this year. The Broncos have one of the best defenses in football.
Alex is right. The AFC West is completely loaded.
